Everyone who knows me knows I have a slight, I don't know if I would call it an obsession so let's say infatuation with the web sensation Felicia Day. For those who don't know who Felicia Day is get the fuck out, now. But for those in need of a quick review Felicia Day is one of the best things to happen to web media. Her web series The Guild (Watch It now) is arguably the most successful and well known web series, with the exception of Dr. Horrible (Again Staring Miss Felicia). She was also recently named one of the 140 top twitter feeds to follow by Time Magazine. She also has appeared in many of Joss Whedons Television works, as the potential slayer Vi in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Badass Mag in Dollhouse. Frankly she is in far too many awesome things for me to list without rambling on and on. Over the years She has gathered quite the web following with her 1.8 million Twitter followers. She is also the only person in the world who would make me pay for something I get for Free on the internet (I am the proud owner of every season of The Guild and Dr Horrible on DVD). Some people still wonder why she is so well loved by the online community, well some of it definitely has to do with the fact that she is adorable.
The other reason she is such a hit is simply because she is one of us, A gamer who spends maybe a little too much time on the internet (not anymore though due to the fact that she's crazy busy). She was an avid WOW player and was on the front lines of the online gaming community back when she was sixteen. Now to my personal level on infatuation.
I can't particularly remember when I first encountered Miss Day but looking back I believe it was around the first airing of Dr. Horrible. I was already a fan of Joss NPH and Nathan Fillion but at the present time I was unaware of who she was (I call those times the dark ages). I was immediately struck but this beautiful redhead and I knew I had to learn everything. I was then introduced to the guild and was hooked from episode one. It's very rare when a girl is able to have a vocal voice in the comedy community, (Probably just because Lisa Lampanelli is so painfully unfunny)
But Felicia Day was like Fuck you guys I'm funny, and found a media where she could shine and did just that.
Now three years later I am somewhat of an expert in all things Day (not in a creepy way more like an I want to be her best friend... or lover who knows, kind of way). But it's not just how attractive (very) Funny (unbelievably) or nice (goddamn saint) she it, it's about what she represents. She had a dream, chased it and despite all the challenges she rose to the top. She is living proof that if you follow your dreams you just may make it. She started out as a home schooled concert violinist popularized a new format of media. Of course every celebrity does have haters and If you ever vocalize that hate towards me I will end you. Have you ever seen Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. That scene where they kick the shit out of everyone who bad talked them on the internet, Imagine that but with murder. Moral of the story Felicia Day>Everyone else and that's that.
